Cu + Sn

German Silver is an alloy of copper, zinc and nickel, sometimes also containing lead and tin. It was originally named for its silver-white colour, but the term ‘silver’ is now prohibited for alloys not containing that metal. German silver varies in composition, the percentage of the three elements ranging approximately from copper (50%), zinc (19%) and nickel (30%).

  • German silver, sometimes known as nickel silver, is a metal alloy comprised mostly of copper, zinc, and nickel. It does not contain silver, despite its name. Due to its appealing look, durability, and corrosion resistance, German silver is frequently used in the manufacturing of different ornamental objects, tableware, musical instruments (such as flutes and saxophones), jewellery components, and some industrial uses.
