Pall (noun) – a thick dark cloud of something: News of her death cast a pall over the event.
Pall (verb) – to become less interesting to somebody over a period of time because they have done or seen it too much. Even the impressive scenery began to pall on me after a few hundred miles.
Satiate (verb) – to give somebody so much of something that they do not feel they want any more.
Some common synonyms of pall are cloy, glut, gorge, sate, satiate, and surfeit. While all these words mean “to fill to repletion,” pall emphasizes the loss of ability to stimulate interest or appetite: A life of leisure eventually begins to pall. Years of globe-trotting had satiated their interest in travel.
