Q.5. (A) A recipe for oatmeal cookies calls for 2 cups of flour for every 3 cups of oatmeal. How much flour is needed for a big batch of cookies that uses 9 cups of oatmeal?

(B) A zoo has 15 emperor penguins who make up 30 % of the total number of penguins at the zoo. How many penguins live at the zoo?

(C) At a parking station, there are 100 vehicles, 60 of which are cars, 30 are vans and the remainder are lorries. If every vehicle is equally likely to leave, find the probability of;

(i) Van leaving first

(ii) Lorry leaving first

(iii) Car leaving second if either a lorry or van had left first.

(D) After taking 3 quizzes, your average is 72 out of 100. What must your average be on the next five quizzes to increase your average to 77?

Q.6. (A) Kamal has 6 cans of regular soda and 15 cans of diet soda. He wants to create some identical refreshment tables that will operate during the American football game. He also doesn’t want to have any sodas left over. What is the greatest number of refreshment tables that Kamal can stock?

(B) A person has to walk 100 meters to go from position X in the north of east direction to the position Y and then to the west of Y to reach finally at position Z. The position Z is situated at the north of X and at a distance of 60 meters from X. Find the distance between X and Y.

(C) If A= Set of Even Numbers, B= Set of Prime Numbers, U= Set of Whole Numbers up to 25, Find A ⋂ B.

(D) What do you mean by the measure of central tendency? State its types.
