Since 2000, the total forest area of Pakistan has decreased by 20%. In 2021 just 4.8% (36.9sq km out of total land area of 770.8sq km) of Pakistan\’s land area had forest cover compared to 5.9% (45.1sq km) in 2000. - Located in Kasur district, approximately 74 km southwest of Lahore, Punjab province, the Changa Manga forest wildlife reserve is accessible via National Highway 5 (N-5) when traveling to or from Sahiwal. Covering an area of around 12,510 acres (5,065 ha), Changa Manga is recognized as the largest wildlife reserve in Pakistan.
- The Chichawatni Reserved Forest is situated in Sahiwal district, along the Lahore-Karachi Railway Line, between Kassowal and Dad Fatiana Railway Stations.
- The Ziarat area in Balochistan\’s Ziarat district is home to the largest area of juniper forest (Juniperus excelsa polycarpus) in Pakistan, covering approximately 110,000 hectares. Ziarat\’s Juniper Forest is believed to be the second-largest juniper forest in the world.
